Every fruit could be stated this way:
God is love.
God is joy.
God is peace.
God is patience… and so on.
So if the Holy Spirit lives within the believer, it naturally follows that the character of God will begin to show up in the believer’s life.
Think of it this way.
Imagine a house where two people live. One is messy and disorganized, while the other is very intentional about keeping things clean and in order. If you walked through that house, you could easily tell which rooms were primarily used by each person.
But over time, something interesting happens. The organized person begins to influence the other. Maybe the messy rooms start to improve a little. And sometimes, even the clean rooms show signs that someone else has been there. There is influence going both ways—but one is clearly transforming the environment more than the other.
In the same way, your life is like that house. You and the Holy Spirit both “live” there.
The difference is this: the Holy Spirit always brings the perfect character of God. The question is not how much of the Spirit you have—but how much does the Spirit have of you. The areas of your life that you yield to the Spirit begin to reflect His character—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
The areas you hold back don’t reflect Him as clearly. But as you surrender more and more of your life to God, His character begins to shine through more consistently. And when that happens, we say the Fruit of the Spirit is evident in the life of the believer.
So today, don’t just give God part of your life.
Surrender it all.
