The Fruits of the Spirit

There is so much a person could say about the Fruits of the Spirit; too much for one sermon, even if it is just an introduction to the topic. I want this to serve as a place where people come and dig deeper. A place where I can pour out more of my thoughts on the Fruits of the Spirit than I can in a short 20-30 minute sermon.

Some thoughts will make the cut into the sermon, and some will just be cut, but that does not mean they are not important. That’s why I want to cover those thoughts here. I pray that the Holy Spirit gives you great insights as I share my thoughts on this topic.

What are the Fruits of the Spirit?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:22-26

Now as I am thinking about the Fruits of the Spirit as a whole for an introduction sermon here a few thoughts:

1. The List Is Not Comprehensive
2. Love is the Primary Fruit
3. They Come From Character of God
4. Every Fruit 4 Every Believer
5. They Are Not Optional
6. Where There Is Fruit, There Is No Need For Law
7. Prevenient Grace Allows Everyone To Express the Fruits to Some Degree
8. The Flesh Has To Be Crucified For Full Expression
9. Fruits Are Expressed In Relationship
10. The Fruit of The Spirit Are Not The Gifts of The Spirit
11. You Claimed Christ Now Bear Fruit
12. Knowing About The Fruit Does Not Produce A “Yield”

These are only a few of the possible directions we could go when discussing the Fruits of the Spirit. In the days and weeks to come, I plan on expanding these to other related topics to the Fruits of the Spirit. So I invite you to come back often and journey with me through the Nine Fruits of the Spirit!
