My Son

1st day of senior yearDay 4- I am thankful to God for a wonderful son. Philip has talent that I cannot wait to see how God uses. Philip leads a prayer group at his high school. He helps with worship at church, a member the school honor choir, and so many other talents. I pray every day that God uses Philip to grow the kingdom of God. I am proud of my son, but not for all the reasons I listed. I am proud of him because he is my son.

When you become a child of God, I believe God’s chest pops out and He says, That’s my kid! I am proud to be their Father. I mean think about it. The Holy Spirit says through the writings of Paul that Jesus is your eldest brother. Jesus, the second person of the Trinity, claims you. He claims you not as a slave, not as a “hired hand”, not as a friend, but as a brother! Paul goes on to say that if Jesus is your eldest brother then you are also an heir with Jesus. God the Father claims you as a joint heir with Jesus the Son of God! You get all the rights, responsibilities and privileges of an heir of the God of this universe!

Of course, this position that you have in Christ did not come naturally. It was actually purchased for you. Your position in the kingdom was bought; not with money, but with blood. The blood of Jesus shed on the cross for you. He died so you could be adopted into the family of God. That’s right your older brother died for you. Jesus is proud to call you brother/sister!! And just like I am proud of my son because he is mine, God is proud of you because you are His!!
